Our Sustainable Aquafarm

Our Farm

Our farm is built around a simple idea — working with nature.

Everything here begins with water. The way it moves, the way it is cared for, and the way it supports life across the farm. We try to build systems that are thoughtful, efficient, and in tune with natural balance rather than driven by excess.
For us, sustainability is not just about using less. It is about observing more, wasting less, reusing where we can, and creating conditions where life can thrive over time. From the way we manage water to the way we care for fish, plants, and the wider farm environment, our approach is guided by respect for the rhythms of nature.

This is not industrial fishkeeping. It is a more grounded, hands-on way of raising life — with patience, responsibility, and care.

Our Fish

At our farm, we work with a carefully selected range of freshwater ornamental species. Each group offers its own insights into behaviour, compatibility, breeding, and ecosystem balance.

The fish we work with include:

Livebearers

Guppies, mollies, swordtails, and platies

Peaceful community fish

Rainbowfish and danios

Character-rich species

Oscars, severums, polar parrots, and rams

Ornamental pond fish

Koi and goldfish

Bottom dwellers and ecosystem helpers

Plecos, snails, and shrimp

How We Breed and Raise Our Fish

We raise our fish with a strong focus on health, stability, and respect for natural systems. Our approach is hands-on, observant, and guided by the belief that good fishkeeping begins with the environment around the fish.

Water first

Healthy fish begin with clean, stable water.

Nature-led systems

We work with natural balance and biological processes.

Careful observation

We watch closely and respond early to signs of stress or change.

Species-specific care

We respect the different needs, behaviour, and pace of each fish.

Gentle handling

We aim to reduce stress and treat fish with care.

Responsible practice

We value thoughtful systems, mindful resource use, and long-term wellbeing.

Principles of Ethical Fishkeeping

Our fishkeeping is guided by a few clear principles that shape the way we farm, teach, and care for life.

Water first

Healthy fish begin with healthy water. Water quality is the foundation of everything.

Work with nature

We support natural balance wherever possible rather than depending on constant intervention.

Observe before acting

Fish and water are always giving signals. Good care begins with learning to notice them.

Respect each species

Different fish have different needs. Ethical fishkeeping means understanding those needs and not forcing life into unsuitable conditions.

Balance over control

We believe stability matters more than chasing perfection or relying on quick fixes.

Care with responsibility

Keeping fish means taking responsibility for living beings, not just maintaining something decorative.

Do no harm

We believe in gentle, thoughtful, humane fishkeeping that reduces stress and avoids unnecessary suffering.

These principles guide not only our farm, but everything we share through Symfiny.
