WHAT DOES SYMFINY MEAN?

A quiet harmony
between fish, water & life.

Symfiny = symphony + fin

Symfiny is where symphony meets fin — the quiet harmony between fish, water and life.

For us, it has come to mean much more than a name. It is fish, purpose, children with muddy feet, tanks full of life, days shaped by nature and a deep love for water.

It is a place where an aquarium can slow you down, where caring for something small can change the way you see something much bigger, and where even Maya, our cow has a say..(pssst…in everything if you let her!)

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Care for the water,
and life will follow.

At Symfiny, we believe healthy life begins with healthy systems.

That means understanding the water, observing before interfering, creating balance rather than chasing quick fixes, and working with natural processes wherever possible.

This thinking guides everything we do — how we raise fish, manage our farm, reuse water, grow food, teach children and design our learning experiences.

We see fishkeeping as more than a hobby. It is a simple, powerful way to understand responsibility, interdependence, patience and the value of water itself.

For us, sustainability is not a separate idea. It is part of how we live: use thoughtfully, waste less, return what we can, and leave enough for what comes next.

OUR VISION

Build an integrated aquatic ecosystem where life, learning & wellbeing come together.

To build an integrated aquatic ecosystem where fish, water, education, enterprise and wellbeing come together.

Our vision is to develop products, experiences and learning platforms that serve homes, schools, young entrepreneurs and communities, while promoting better fishkeeping, greater water awareness and more thoughtful interaction with living systems.

OUR CENTRAL BELIEF
When people connect more deeply with aquatic life, they begin to understand water differently — and care for it differently too.

OUR STORY · BEFORE SYMFINY HAD A NAME

Before Symfiny had a name, this was home.

Long before Symfiny had a name, there was simply the way our family lived: close to water, close to the land, and with enough room to stay curious. Dad found his rhythm in the sea, diving for years; Mum found hers in music, always listening for pattern, harmony and feeling. We grew up somewhere between those two worlds. Looking back, Symfiny feels less like an idea we invented and more like a place we were always heading toward.

THE BEGINNINGsoil · water · family

We grew up with our feet in the soil, wind in our faces and rain being a perfectly good reason to run outside. We have swum in rivers, climbed trees, watched stars, grown food, eaten things straight from the land and spent a lot of time around animals. Probably more time than some of the animals wanted.

Farm life has never really felt unusual to us. It is just home.

We grow what we can, eat from the land, cook simply, compost, reuse things and try to waste as little as possible. We collect water, recycle it where we can and avoid harsh chemicals on the farm.

We also work closely with people from the villages around us, who have taught us a lot about the land, the seasons and doing things simply.

Symfiny, though, was not part of some big plan. Our family was looking for something we could build here on the farm — something that would allow us to keep living in the country and make this life sustainable.

Somewhere along the way, we found fishkeeping. Or maybe fishkeeping found us.

It started with a few tanks. As these things apparently do. And then it grew.

There was something about fish that drew us in. They are these strange little butterflies and dragons underwater — beautiful, curious and full of personality once you actually stop and watch them.

At first, we were fascinated by the fish.

Then we started noticing the water.

And that changed everything.

A small creature on the farm
Life and curiosity around the farm

When you keep fish, water stops being something that simply comes from a tap. You begin to see it. You notice how it changes, what lives inside it, what keeps it healthy and how quickly life responds when something goes wrong.

Water can be gentle enough to hold a tiny fry and powerful enough to carve its way through rock. It carries, nourishes, cleans, connects and somehow always finds a way. And almost everything alive depends on it.

We have always loved water. We could honestly spend most of the day in a river and have very few complaints.

But fishkeeping made us respect water in a completely different way.

It taught us to notice more. To care more. To wait. And sometimes, most importantly, to stop touching things and give nature a chance to sort itself out.

The more we learnt about fish and water, the more we began seeing the same lessons everywhere else — in the soil, trees, ponds, animals, rain and changing seasons.

That is one of the biggest things this farm has taught us. Nature has its own pace. Things grow when they are ready. Water settles. Seasons change. Fish spawn. Trees fruit. And staring at them impatiently does not seem to speed any of it up.

So we try to let nature guide the way things are done here. We do not believe much in rushing, quick fixes or forcing things just because we want an answer today. Healthy soil takes time. Healthy water takes time. Healthy living systems take time too.

A MOMENT FROM THE FARM

Watch the water move.

Sometimes the best way to understand a living system is simply to slow down and watch what is happening inside it.

Fishkeeping made us notice the water. These small moments are part of that story.

One million Waterkeepers
OUR DREAM

One million Waterkeepers.

A million young people who do not just know that water matters — but actually feel connected to it.

Our dream is to see Waterkeepers everywhere: curious kids, muddy feet, hand-drawn signs and a shared message — Protect the Blue.

OUR FISH FARM

Fishkeeping
without the fuss.

Here at Symfiny, we raise freshwater fish in calm, naturally balanced, low-stress environments. No harsh lighting. No overcrowded tanks. Just good water, space to move, and systems that follow a more natural rhythm.

Most of us is water. Most of our planet is covered by it. Maybe that is why being around water has always felt like coming back to something familiar.

Everything here begins with water — how it moves, how we care for it, and how it moves through the rest of the farm. We try to build systems that are simple, thoughtful and efficient, working with natural balance rather than constantly trying to control it.

For us, sustainability is not only about using less. It is about noticing more, wasting less, reusing what we can, and creating conditions that can support life well over time. From our fish tanks and ponds to the plants, soil and wider farm, each part is connected to the next.

This is not industrial fishkeeping. It is a slower, hands-on way of raising and caring for life — with patience, responsibility and respect.

THE ETHICAL FISHKEEPING GUIDE

Good care starts with good principles.

Our fishkeeping is guided by a few clear principles that shape the way we farm, teach and care for life.

01 · WATER FIRST

Healthy fish begin with healthy water.

Water quality is the foundation of everything we do.

02 · WORK WITH NATURE

Support natural balance.

We support natural balance wherever possible, rather than depending on constant intervention.

03 · OBSERVE BEFORE ACTING

Learn to notice the signals.

Fish and water are always giving signals. Good care begins by learning to notice them.

04 · RESPECT THE SPECIES

Every fish has its own nature.

Ethical fishkeeping means understanding those needs and caring for each species accordingly.

05 · BALANCE OVER CONTROL

Stability beats quick fixes.

We value stability, patience and long-term health over quick fixes or unnecessary manipulation.

06 · CARE WITH RESPONSIBILITY

Fish are living beings.

Keeping them well means taking that responsibility seriously.

07 · DO NO HARM

Thoughtful, humane fishkeeping.

We believe in thoughtful, humane fishkeeping that reduces stress and avoids unnecessary suffering.

MEET OUR FISH

More than beautiful fish.

At Symfiny, we work with a carefully chosen range of freshwater ornamental species — each with its own personality, pace and place in the aquatic world.

Some are bold and character-filled. Some are peaceful community fish. Some are tiny ecosystem helpers. Some are simply impossible not to love.

Because good fishkeeping begins with understanding who a fish is, not just what it looks like.

🧠 Tip: Hover or tap a fish to learn what they eat, how they behave, and who they get along with. Like a matchmaking app… but for aquariums!
